The North Carolina Recreation and Park Association's Wellness Initiative's mission is to empower parks and recreation agencies in North Carolina to create healthy communities through the development of programs, policies, and infrastructure that support healthy eating and physical activity.
The North Carolina Recreation and Park Wellness Initiative is a partnership between the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, and North Carolina State University.
History of the NCRPA Wellness Initiative
With funding from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, the wellness initiative pairs a parks, recreation, tourism management masters student at North Carolina State University with the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association to assist with providing wellness support to recreation and park agencies throughout North Carolina. Each wellness graduate assistant works alongside with NCRPA throughout their two-year tenure at NC State.
Special thanks to past wellness graduate assistants Erin Crouse and Colleen Dougherty who built the groundwork and concept of the NCRPA Wellness Toolkit.
