Family Health & Fitness Day Planning

March 25, 2019

In 2018, the NCRPA Wellness Initiative encouraged recreation and park departments across the state to participate in Family Health & Fitness Day in June. As we inch close and closer to the summer, it is time to start planning again! This wellness blog will detail Family Health and Fitness Day, and provide you with resources to help in planning.

This year, Family Health & Fitness Day will be held on June 8th, 2019. Family Health and Fitness Day is held annually on the second Saturday of every June and is a great opportunity to promote health and wellness in your community.

NRPA invites agencies everywhere to participate by inviting families to get active at their local park or recreation center, or by hosting an event, such as a health fair or family fun run. The Day also encourages healthcare providers to participate in the festivities, by attending or sponsoring events.

This year, NRPA is providing more resources to help your department get involved with Family Health & Fitness Day! First, they are offering a free webinar on Thursday, March 28th at 2:00 pm to detail the Health & Fitness day toolkit, and the 2019 theme: "Get Fit" with parks and recreation.

Additionally, check out the webpage that NRPA has created to promote Family Health & Fitness Day! The social media images could be a great tool for your department to use to raise awareness leading up to the big day.

In the next few weeks, be sure to check the NCRPA Wellness Toolkit, as well as the NRPA webpage for more resources to help your community celebrate Family Health & Fitness Day!

Until next time,

Diquan
