I'm pleased to announce that this summer, I will be interning in Yellowstone National Park! I'll be working to help facilitate the parks' Youth Conservation Corps program. This blog post will give you some information on what I'll be up to this summer, and provide you with what to expect from the NCRPA Wellness initiative this summer.

United States Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a summer youth employment program that engages young people in meaningful work experiences on national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and fish hatcheries while developing an ethic of environmental stewardship and civic responsibility.

In Yellowstone National Park, YCC enrollees help work on deferred maintenance projects throughout the park during the work week. This can include building trails, fences, removing invasive species, and more. During the weekend, enrollees get to partake in recreation activities.

As an intern, I will get to complete work in several areas. My main role will be to document the enrollees' journey by writing a blog! I'll also get to do some work on deferred maintenance, help facilitate recreation programming, and assist with educational lessons. I am very excited to get started on this opportunity!

I leave for Yellowstone next Wednesday, May 22nd and will return to North Carolina sometime in Late-August. Throughout the summer, I plan to check in every so often to update you all on my times out west (and maybe provide a few weekly wellness tips!).

Starting next week, the wellness initiative will be a lot quieter. While there won't be a new wellness blog or bulletin each week, or wellness webinars this summer, please be on the lookout for wellness news every so often.

It's been a pleasure to get to know so many association members throughout the last few years! I can't believe that work on my Masters degree at NC State University is coming to an end, and I'll receive my degree this summer. I look forward to sharing a lot more about my experience when I return in August! Until then, thank you all for your support!

Until next time,
